-2x + 4 < 22 The first step is to isolate the 2x. To do this the 4 needs to be eliminated and since it is added on the left we need to subtract it. It has to also be subtracted on the right. Next isolate the x by dividing by 2. remember you also have to divide by 2 on the right.
-2x + 4 -4 < 22 -4
2x < 18
2x/2 < 18/2
x < 9 is the solution
