if +f%28x%29=3x-2+and+g%28x%29=x%5E2-4x%2B1+ find: +%28f%2Bg%29%28x%29

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Just collect like terms.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

+f%28x%29=3x-2 and g%28x%29=x%5E2-4x%2B1+ find: +%28f%2Bg%29%28x%29

(f+g)(x)

That just means to add together everything written after "f(x)=" and
everything written after "g(x)".

In other words it means the green stuff below PLUS the red stuff below:

f%28x%29=green%283x-2%29 g%28x%29=red%28x%5E2-4x%2B1%29+

So put a plus sign between the red and the green stuff:

%28f%2Bg%29%28x%29=green%283x-2%29+%2B+red%28x%5E2-4x%2B1%29+

Now you have to simplify. I'll recolor the terms:

%28f%2Bg%29%28x%29=red%283x%29-green%282%29+%2B+x%5E2-red%284x%29%2Bgreen%281%29+

Now

1. Write down the x%5E2 because that's the only
term that has x%5E2, and also because it has the largest exponent

2. After that combine the red things red%283x%29-red%284x%29. That gives
%28-1x%29 and you can just write that -x.

3. Finally combine the green things -green%282%29%2Bgreen%281%29+, getting -1 and you end up with:

%28f%2Bg%29%28x%29=x%5E2-red%28x%29-green%281%29+

Didn't take a rocket scientist, did it. Bet you remember that much
from algebra five years ago. :-)
