The measure of the supplement of an angle is 15 degrees less than four times the measure of the complement. Find the measure of the angle. This question is from textbook pre-algebra
Supplement = 180-x
Complement = 90-x
Let x be the angle:
If you can not understand break them down into simplier meaning:
"15 degrees less than 4 times the complement"
15 degrees less than ---> (180-x)-15
4 times the complement: -->4(90-x)
Equation:
(180-x)-15=4(90-x)
165-x=360-4x
-195=-3x
x=65 (complement)
SUpplement = 180-15-65-->100 Hence, the measure of the supplment of an angle is 100 degrees and the measure of the complement of an angle is 65 degrees.
