I have no idea what the 2 is doing. I am guessing it is a power, like:

Raise every term to power 10 (if log base is 10), and we get:
From here, factorise if you can. If not then use the quadratic formula instead.
This is all assuming that the 2 is a power. Even so, the method is still the same.
