Question 329314: A tentmaker had 4500 square yards of nylon material. it takes 45 sq yards of nylon to make an 8x10 tent and 50 square yards to make a 9x12 tent. to model this situation the manager wrote the equation 45x+50y=4500. What do x and y represent? Graph the equation. How many solutions are ther to the equation given that the number of tents of each type must be a whole number.
I think x simply means 8x10 tent and y means a 9x12 tent
I have worked on graphing the equation, but I don't know how to post it here anyway.
the real mystery to me is how many possible solutions?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A tentmaker had 4500 square yards of nylon material. it takes 45 sq yards of nylon to make an 8x10 tent and 50 square yards to make a 9x12 tent. to model this situation the manager wrote the equation 45x+50y=4500.
What do x and y represent?
x is the number of 8x10 tents; y is the number of 9x12 tents.
-----------------------
Graph the equation.
45x+50y = 4500
9x+10y = 900
y = (-9/10)x + 90

How many solutions are there to the equation given that the number of tents of each type must be a whole number.
x = 0, 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90
Ans: 10 solutions
