2x-2y=12
divide equation by 2
x-y=6.................2
mutiply equation 2 by 3 and add equation 1
3x-3y=18
3x-3y+3y-2x=18+3
x=21 inches which is the length
plug the value of x in equation 2
21-y=6
y=21-6
