let the length of the rectangle be l
given rectangle is 5 feet longer than it is wide.
so width of the rectangle will be l-5
now given the perimeter is 34 feet,
perimeter means sum of all sides
so 2(l+l-5)=34
=> l+l-5=17
=> 2l=22
=> l=11



so the length of the rectangle is 11 feet
