look at a what cant a be? if a=0 then 0 cant be < 0, if a is > 0 then the out come would be more than 0 and make the statement false, so a has to be < 0.


look at b, its in the absolute value bars, so no matter if its negative or positive the outcome will always be possitive. but if b= 2 the outcome is a(0)=0 which will not satisfy the problem, so b cant = 2.
