You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One number is 6 more than the other. Their sum is 0. What is the value of the smaller number?
.
Let x = "other number"
then
x-6 = first number
.
x + (x-6) = 0
x + x - 6 = 0
2x - 6 = 0
2x = 6
x = 3 (other number)
.
First number:
x-6 = 3-6 = -3
.
Answer: -3
