You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3-8x=1
Subtract 3 from both sides.
3-3-8x=1-3
0-8x=-2
-8x=-2
Divide both sides by -8
-8x%2F%28-8%29=-2%2F%28-8%29
%28%28-8%29%2F%28-8%29%29x=1%2F4
%281%29x=1%2F4
x=1%2F4

The goal in this problem is to solve for x, which means you need to get x by itself on one side of the problem.
First you want to subtract 3 from both sides of the equation:
3-8x=1
3-8x-3 = 1-3
-8x = -2
Next you want to divide each side by -8, which will cancel out the -8 on the left side and leave x alone:
-8x/-8 = -2/-8
x= 2/8 = 1/4 = 0.25
So your answer is x=0.25.
