You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How do I use the elimination method to solve two linear equations?
9x+7= 5
11x-7= -2
This problem does not make sense the way you have written it, perhaps it should be:
9x + 7y = 5
11x- 7y = -2
-------------addition eliminates y, find x:
20x + 0 = 3
x = 3%2F20; divided both sides by 20
:
Find y using the 1st equation
9x + 7y = 5
replace x with 3/20
9(3%2F20) + 7y = 5
(27%2F20) + 7y = 5
7y = 5 - 27%2F20
7y = 100%2F20- 27%2F20
7y = 73%2F20
multiply both sides by 1/7
y = 1%2F7*73%2F20
y = 73%2F140
