Question 323996: write a slope-intercept equation whose graph is described as following: Please provide step by step process as I know answer but not how to arrive at each.
Thanks very much.
1) parallel to the graph of y = -2x + 1; y-intercept (0,-3)
2) perpendicular to the graph of y = 3x - 5; y-intercept (0,2)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1) parallel to the graph of y = -2x + 1; y-intercept (0,-3)
The slope of y = -2x+1 is -2.
Lines parallel to it have the same slope.
--> y = -2x - 3
-----------------
2) perpendicular to the graph of y = 3x - 5; y-intercept (0,2)
The slope of y = 3x - 5 is +3
The slope of lines perpendicular is the negative inverse, = -1/3
--> y = (-1/3)x + 2
