You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The area of a rectangle is,
1.A=L%2AW=24
The perimeter of a rectangle is,
P=2L%2B2W=20
2.L%2BW=10
From eq. 2,L=10-W
Substitute into eq. 1,
%2810-W%29W=24%7D%7D%0D%0A%7B%7B%7B10W-W%5E2=24
W%5E2-10W%2B24=0
%28W-6%29%28W-4%29=0
Two solutions:
W-6=0
W=6
Then from eq. 2,
L%2B6=10
L=4
.
.
.
W-4=0
W=4
L%2B4=10
L=6
The rectangle is 4 inches by 6 inches.
