You can put this solution on YOUR website!
c + 2/3 = 5

5 is equvalent to 15/3.

Make your equation:

c + 2/3 = 15/3

Substract 2/3 from both sides of the equation to get:

c = 15/3 - 2/3 which becomes:

c = 13/3

That's your answer.

To confirm, let c = 13/3 and your original equation becomes:

13/3 + 2/3 = 15/3

Combine like terms to get:

15/3 = 15/3 which is true confirming the fact the c = 2/3 is a good answer.

The reason I made 5 = 15/3 is because the denominator are then equal which allows you to subtract one from the other.

You would have had to eventually make the fractions with the same denominator or convert all to decimals anyway.

c + 2/3 = 5 becomes c + .6666666667 = 5

Subtract .6666666667 from both sides of the equation to get:

c = 4.333333333333 which is equivalent to 4 and 1/3 which is equivalent to 13/3.
