You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Tom reads at an average rate of 30 pages per hour.
while jenny reads at an average rate of 40 pages per hour.
tom starts reading a novel at 4:30
jenny begins reading an identical copy of same book at 5:20
..
Jenny starts reading after 50 minutes = 50/60= 5/6 hours
In 5/6 hours Tom has already read 30*5/6=25 pages.
..
Let them read the same pages when Jenny reads xth. page
Jenny reads x pages at 40 pages/hr
time taken by jenny to read x pages = x/40
..
In the same time Tom will read x-25 pages at 30 pages/hr.
time taken by tom = x-25/ 30
..
x-25 / 30 = x/40
40x-1000=30x
10x=1000
x=100 pages read by Jenny
Time taken by Jenny
100/40 = 2.50 hours
2 hours 30 minutes
They will be reading the same page at 7.50 pm
