x-3y=-5
..
Add both the equations
2y-x+x-3y=3-5
-y=-2
y=-2/-1
y=2
plug the value of y in any of the equations
2y-x=3
2*2-x=3
4-x=3
-x=-4+3
-x=-1
x=1
