I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR IS (X+5)(X-1)?
I HAVE LEARNED TO TAKE THE LCD AND MULTIPLY IT BY THE FRACTION THE IN THE NUMERATOR AND DENOMINATOR, ALTHOUGH FOR SOME REASON I AM NOT COMING UP WITH THE SAME ANSWER AS THE BOOK! CAN YOU HELP?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
[2x/(x+5)]/[x^2/(x-1)]
= Invert the denominator and multiply to get:
[2x/(x+5)]
Cancel the factor "x" common to numerator and denominator, as follows:
[2/(x+5)]
Multiply to get:
[2x-1]/[x^2+5x]
