Question 31958: I know how 2 do the majority of this problem, but theres 1 part that I get stuck on, so I was wondering if u can help me out wit it?
x^2 - 6x = 16 (Original problem)

Solution:
x^2 - 6x = 16

x^2-6x+(3)^2= 16+(3)^2
x^2-6x+9= 16+9
(x-3)^2= 25....Wut comes after this???

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+%28x-3%29%5E2+=+25+

we need to get rid of the squared term. To do that we do the "opposite" which is take square root of both sides:

+%28x-3%29+=+sqrt%2825%29+ or +%28x-3%29+=+-+sqrt%2825%29+
x-3 = 5 or x-3 = -5
so,
x = 8 or x = -2
