Question 319311: A magazine earned $68 million in 1998 from advertising revenue and subscriptions. If the advertising revenue was 6 times the subsctiption revenue, how much did the magazine earn from advertising?
I have tried 6(68) + n = 68 to get a solution, but it doesn't seem to add up.
Thanks Alissa

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Replace words with variables and equations.
Let A=advertising revenue and let B=subscriptions.
1.A%2BB=68
2.A=6%2AB
Substitute eq. 2 into eq. 1 and solve for B.
Then go back to eq. 2 and solve for A.
Re-post if you get stuck.
