Question 319185: Solve the equation.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x%5E3+%2B+9x%5E2+=+-8x+ Start with the given equation.

x%5E3+%2B+9x%5E2+%2B8x=0+ Add 8x to both sides.

x%28x%5E2+%2B+9x+%2B8%29=0+ Factor out the GCF 'x'

x%28x%2B8%29%28x%2B1%29=0+ Factor x%5E2+%2B+9x+%2B8 to get %28x%2B8%29%28x%2B1%29

x=0, x%2B8=0, or x%2B1=0 Use the zero product property.

x=0, x=-8, or x=-1 Solve for 'x' in each equation.

So the three solutions are x=0, x=-8, or x=-1. I'll let you sort them.
