Group the terms as follows
xt + 3x^2 - 8t - 24x
factor out x and -8
x(t+3x) - 8(t+3x); a -8 changes the sign
Factor out (t+3x)
(t+3x)(x-8)

2) Factors: 9t+wt+9y+yw
Group as follows
9t + 9y + wt + yw
Factor out 9 & w
9(t+y) + w(t+y)
Factor out (t+y)
(t+y)(9+w)
:
3) factors: 5x^2+13xy-6y^2
This can be factored as a quadratic, we know that it will be:
(5x___y)(x___y)
The factors of 6 are 2 & 3, choose the signs to satisfy the middle term 13xy
(5x - 2y)(x + 3y); FOIL this to check it
