You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use the FOIL method,
%283%2B%284b-1%29%29%5E2=9%2B2%283%29%284b-1%29%2B%284b-1%29%5E2
%283%2B%284b-1%29%29%5E2=9%2B6%284b-1%29%2B%2816b%5E2-8b%2B1%29
%283%2B%284b-1%29%29%5E2=9%2B%2824b-6%29%2B%2816b%5E2-8b%2B1%29
%283%2B%284b-1%29%29%5E2=16b%5E2%2B16b%2B4%29
.
.
.
Your answer can't be correct, when b=0, you should get %283-1%29%5E2=4 but instead you'd get 16.

Just use FOIL like any other binomial expansion -- it is just that one of the terms is a binomial itself.

First:

Outside:

Inside:

Last:

And you have to apply FOIL again:

First

Outside:

Inside:

Last:

Putting the second application of FOIL together:

and adding this to the First, Outside, and Inside of the first application of FOIL:

Then collect like terms:

The answer is definitely NOT

So it is not possible for your problem to have the same answer.
