Question 31839: Please help!! I have a test tomorrow and still don't really understand this no matter how much i read it over and over:
Solve Algebraically:
question 1: y=x^2+1
y=5x-3
question 2: y=2x+5
y= 12/5
Can someone please walk me through this step by step so i might be able to understand!!?? Thank you soo much!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=x^2+1
Substitute y=5x-3 in the above equation:
5x-3=x^2+1
=>x^2-5x+4=0
=>(x-4)(x-1)=0
=>x=4 or x=1
........
y=2x+5
Substitute y=12/5 in the above equation:
=>12/5=2x+5
=>10x+25=12
=>10x=-13
=>x=-13/10
