Let the smaller of the two numbers be equal to
Algebraically, the larger number would be 3x, since it is 3 times as big.
Small number + Large number = 32
x + 3x = 32
Collect like terms
4x = 32
x = 32%2F4
x = 8
The smaller number is 8
The larger number is
= 3x
= 3(8)
= 24
