here is the problem.The amount of juice in a grapefruit is directly proportional to the cube of its diameter. A grapefruit with a 3 inch diameter contains 3 fluid ounces of juice. How much juice is contained in a grapefruit with a 6 inch diameter. Round to the nearest tenth of a fluid ounce.

J+=+kD%5E3 where k = the constant of proportionality.
To find the value of k, substitute D = 3 and J = 3.
3+=+k%283%5E3%29 Evaluate.
k+=+3%2F27
k+=+1%2F9
To find the amount of juice when D = 6...
J+=+D%5E3%2F9 Substitute D = 6.
