Question 317067: A car traveling 60mph overtakes a motorcycle traveling 40mph. The motorcycle had a two hour head start. How far from the starting point are the car and motorcycle?
I am having a hard time solving this equation. I know the formula D=R X T, but I'm not sure where to start.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
For the motorcycle,
D=40%2At%2B40%2A2=40t%2B80
For the car,
D=60t
Set them equal to each other to find t.
+60t=40t%2B80
20t=80
t=4
After 4 hours, they're at the same point.
Use either equation to find D.
D=60t=60%284%29=240 miles
