You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the length of the side of the original square = x
It is increased by 8 cm
So, the length of the side of the new square = x+8
The area of the new square is (x+8)^2=169
Taking square root,
x+8= Sqrt(169)
x+8=13
x = 13-5
x=5 cm
