Question 314549: Evaluate the logarithmic equation for nthree values of x that are greater than -3, three values of x that are between -4 and -3, and at x = -3. Show your work. Use the resulting ordered pairs to plot a graph. State the equation of the line asympotic to the graph (if any). I am so lost on this thank you in advance for your help! There are really very few specifics I can give you because you failed to give the equation.
Your first step is to choose values in the requested ranges. It really doesn't matter what you choose as long as the numbers are in the given ranges. For each one you choose, use your calculator to determine the value of the function. If the base of your log function is other than or , depending on the capabilities of your calculator, you may have to use the base conversion formula to determine the actual value of your function.
So, if your log function were to base 6 and the argument of your log function is , for example, you would need to do the following calculation for each of the values of x you select:
First calculate for the value of that you selected.
Then calculate or (i.e. base 10). It doesn't matter which, you get the same answer either way.
Each pair of numbers so created is an ordered pair that you can plot on your graph. Once you have plotted all 7 points, draw a smooth curve.
