Question 314492: Find two consecutive even integers such that twelve times the first equals eight times the second.
Find the larger number. Answer by malaydassharma(59) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x be the larger number(second).
As they are consecutive number the previous(first) number is (x-1)
As per the problem,
12(x-1)=8x
or 12x-8x=12
or 4x=12
Hence, x=12/4=3 , the larger number.
