.08x+70=490-.07x 
.08x+.07x=490-70 
.15x=420 
x=420/.15 
x=2,800 amount invested @ 8%. 
7,000-2,800=4,200 amount invested @ 7%. 
Proof: 
.08*2,800+70=.07*4,200 
224+70=294 
294=294
