Question 31412: I don't remember how to solve these types of equations...
3x + 2y = 94.44
Basically the word problem states that a woman went to the store and bought 2 types of shirts. Each shirt has a different price. The problem tells you how much she spent and how many of each shirt she bought... but not the dollar amount of either. If I solve for x or y and then use substitution... I end up zeroing out the problem. What am I doing wrong? Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You need another equation relating x and y
OR
You need to know haw the number of one type
or shirt relates to the number of the other type.
If you have the latter information you do not
need to use two variables.
