A reservoir has 3 sources of water. Source A can fill the reservoir in 2 days, source B in 3 days and source C in 6 days. How long would it take to fill the reservoir using all 3 sources?
---------
A fills 1/2 the reservoir per day
B fills 1/3 per day
C fills 1/6 per day
Add those up
1/2 + 1/3 + 1/6 = 1
= 1 res per day
--> 1 day to fill

Let x = time it will take for all three sources to fill the reservoir.

In 1 hour, source A can fill 1/2 of it, source B can fill 1/3 of it, source C can fill 1/6 of it, and all sources together can fill 1/x of it. The equation is:

1%2F2+%2B1%2F3+%2B1%2F6=1%2Fx

Multiply both sides by 6x:

3x+%2B2x+%2Bx=6
6x=6
x=1 hour to fill with all sources.
