Question 313616: I'm not sure how to make an equation for this word problem can anyone help me? Any help would be appreciated!
Al gives 1/2 of his marbles to Bev, Bev gives 1/3 of his marbles to Carl, Carl gives 1/4 of his marbles to Danny. If Danny was given 4 marbles, how many did Al have originally?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x= total number of marbles

Now, the number of marbles given to Danny will be
%281%2F4%29%281%2F3%29%281%2F2%29x=4
%281%2F24%29x+=4

Multiply both sides by 24.
x=96 marbles.

OR

Danny = 4 = 1/4 of Carl
Carl = 16 = 1/3 of Bev
Bev = 48 = 1/2 of Al
Al = 96
