You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x = number of quarters
13-x = number of dimes
The equation, working in cents, is
25x+ 10(13-x)= 250
25x + 130-10x=250
15x+130=250
15x=120
x=120/15
x=8 quarters
13-x=13-8 = 5 dimes
Check:
8 quarters = $2.00
5 dimes = .50
Total = $2.50, so it checks.
