If you want to eliminate +x+ , you have to multiply +5x and +7x, so multiply +5x by +7 and +7x by +-5 so when they add you will have +35x-35x=0.

If you want to eliminate +y, you have to multiply +2y and +-3y, so multiply +2y by +3 and +-3y by +2 so when they add, you'll get +6y-6y=0.
