Question 31171: Hello! This problem is very confusing for me. I know that a parallelogram has two pairs of congruent sides (bxh), however this problem is not making sense.
Find the area of a parallelogram whose sides are 6 inches and 8 inches and whose longer diagonal is 12 inches.
I would really appreciate any help solving this problem. I've tried drawing a picture and everything, but nothing has worked. Thank you for your time.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the method that springs to mind here is the Cosine Rule to find an angle then to use Area of triangle=(1/2)absinC etc.

Have you done this? If not, then this is not the approach for you. I cannot think of another method.
