Question 311318: Factor: x^3 + x^2 - 22x - 40
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! To factor x^3 + x^2 - 22x - 40, we look at the integer factors of -40, and hope we can find factors that divide the polynomial evenly...the easiest method is to do it by synthetic division...that would be too clumsy to do here...I did it that way...and the factors turn out to be
(x-5)(x+4)(x+2)
