Question 31114: Hello,
My name is Kristin and I am studying for a math placement exam. I am rusty on
some Algebra questions. Can you show me how, step by step?
Quest: Eggs are to be packed in cartons, each holding 12 eggs. If there are 128 eggs and as many cartons are filled as possible, how many eggs are left over?
I know that this is a division problem, such as 128/12, but this is a multiple choice question where the choices are a)10.667 & b)10.7
I am confused b/c when you divide 12 into 128, the calculator gives you 10.66666666666, etc. Isn't 10.667 the same thing as 10.7 rounded off? What do you think the best answer is?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! you need to answer the question. The question says how many eggs are left over?
128/12 is 10.something.
Meaning 10 boxes are filled with 10*12 eggs --> 120 eggs.
How many are left over? answer is 128-120 --> 8.
