You can put this solution on YOUR website! The advisor of an ecology club at a large college expects that the group consists of 10% freshman, 20% Sophomores, 40% Juniors and 30% Seniors. The membership for the club this year is observed to be 14 freshman, 19 sophomores, 51 Juniors and 16 Seniors. At 95% level of confidence, test the advisors belief
---------------------
Ho: proportions are as claimed
Ha: at least one of the proportions is different
-------
I ran a Chi-Sq test on the data and got the following:
test stat: chi-sq = 6.2828
p-value = 0.0986
-----------------------
Conclusion:
Since the p-value is greater than alpha, fail to reject Ho.
There is no significant difference from the claimed proportions
at the 95% level of significance.
