SOLUTION: 6u = -24 i have been told the answer is -18 by taking 6 - 24 u= -18
24u = -96 told to do 24 - 96 = -72 and divide -72 by 18 = -4
Question is where does the 18 in the second que

Question 307943: 6u = -24 i have been told the answer is -18 by taking 6 - 24 u= -18
24u = -96 told to do 24 - 96 = -72 and divide -72 by 18 = -4
Question is where does the 18 in the second question come from, from the question above? why is it not a -18 anymore, as though u = -18

You can put this solution on YOUR website! You have been told wrong
6u=-24 you would divide both sides by 6 to isolate your variable
u=-4
to solve the second equation in the system you would simply replace the "u" with the value we now know "u" to be which is -4
so 24(-4)= -96
