so accordig to the question we get the equation..
7x + 18 = -17
subtract 18 from both sides ,,we get
7x = -17 -18
7x = -35
divide both sides by 7 ,,we get ...
x = -5
Now if you want to verify you answer ,,,you can put the values of x in the equation and if you get LHS=RHS,,,this means that you answer is correct..
