You can put this solution on YOUR website! :Today Scott sold twice as many shares of stocks at his brokerage firm as he sold last Friday.
In the two days, he sold a total of 144 shares of stocks.
Write a system of equations that will determine f, the number of stocks sold
last Friday, and t, the number of stocks sold today.
:
Write an equation for each statement:
:
"Today Scott sold twice as many shares of stocks at his brokerage firm as he sold last Friday."
t = 2f
:
In the two days, he sold a total of 144 shares of stocks.
f + t = 144
:
Replace t with 2f in the above equation
f + 2f = 144
3f = 144/3
f = 48 on Friday
:
You can find t, I'm sure
