You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I have a total sales figure of $1200.00 which included 8% sales tax. I need to know what the figure was before sales tax.
---------------
Let the base price be "x"
Equation:
x + 0.08x = 1200
1.08x = 1200
x = 1200/1.08
x = $1111.11

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Pre-Tax*(1+8/100)=Post-Tax
P%2A%281.08%29=1200
P=1200%2F1.08

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.08x+x=1,200
1.08x=1,200
x=1,200/1.08
x=$1,111.11 was the original price before tax.
