Question 303637: One of yor friends knows that you are taking a stats course and asks for help with her chemistry lab report. She has 5 measurments ofthe melting point of a compound 122.4, 121.8, 122.0, 123.0, 122.3 degrees celsius

The lab manual asks for 95% confidence interval estmae for the melting point, how do you find the estimate?

Please help...not sure what to do.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! One of yor friends knows that you are taking a stats course and asks for help with her chemistry lab report.
 She has 5 measurments of the melting point of a compound:
122.4, 121.8, 122.0, 123.0, 122.3 degrees celsius
The lab manual asks for 95% confidence interval estmate for the melting point, how do you find the estimate?
-----
sample mean = 122.3
sample std = 0.4583
----------------------------
standard error: (invT(0.975 with df=4) = 0.5691
---
95% CI: 122.3-0.5691 < u < 122.3+0.5691
95% CI: 121.73 < u < 122.87
===============================
Cheers,
Stan H.
