Question 303321: Please help me solve this math problem, i am really confused. the problem is directly quoted from my homework.
"if i were 40 degrees less, i would equal my supplement." i need to find the measure of that angle. i have tried to turn it into an algebraic equation, but i do not get a legitimate answer.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The angle plus its supplement equals 180.
1.A%2BS=180
If A was 40 degrees less, it would be S.
2.A-40=S
Now substitute eq. 2 into eq. 1 and solve for A.
Then use either equation to solve for S.
