You can put this solution on YOUR website! Trains A and B are traveling in the same direction on parallel tracks, train A is traveling at 40mph B at 50mph. Train a passes the station at 5:15 am train B passes same station at 5:45am at what time will train B catch up to train A. I just need this information put into the equations used for this problem (formulas) I will be able to get the answer from there.
Let the distance where they meet be x from 5.45 am
Train A takes x/40 to reach their meeting place
Train B takes x+20/50 to reach their meeting place
x/40 = x+20 /50
50x=40(x+20)
50x-40x=800
10x= 800
x= 80 miles
x+20 = 100 miles
Train B travels 50 mph. To travel 100 miles it takes 2 hours
Train B will catch up with Train A at 7.45 am
