Question 300173: I am having trouble coming up with the linear equations for this word problem...
Joe buys t-shirts from a manufacturer at $3 per shirt. He places a design on the shirt that costs him $1 of materials and $1 labor. He sells the t-shirts to passer-byes at the local highway exit for $ 8 a piece (5 days out of each week). The storage and equipment he needed to get his business started cost him $1,500. How many t-shirts did Joe have to sell per day to become profitable in 3 months of starting his business? What happens to Joe’s business if his supplier begins charging him $ 5 per shirt and his labor costs go up 50%?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

There are several factors to the per shirt costs.
Cost of the new shirts and design and labor.
revenue is $8 per shirt
m will be the per shirt cost
b will be the starting up costs 1500
y=mx+b
