Question 29922: Can you check my work. I was asked to simplify this equation. Thanks for your help.
5XY/X + 6Y^/Y - 5(X - Y)
5Y + 6Y - 5X + 5Y
11Y - 5X + 5Y
16Y - 5X

You can put this solution on YOUR website! You are right and congratulations!
Let us look into the steps involved
5XY/X + 6Y^2/Y - 5(X - Y)
=5Y + 6Y - 5X + 5Y (caneling X in the first term fraction,Y in the second term fraction and expanding the bracket)
=(5Y + 6Y) - 5X + 5Y (by additive associativity)
=11Y - 5X + 5Y
=11y+5y-5x (by additive commutativity)
=(11y+5y)-5x
=16Y - 5X
Note: You have understood the problem. THAT IS FINE. In the second fraction the power is missing. Looking at your answer I think it is 2
If you are asked to carry out such a simple work that means it is required of you to give the algebraic steps involved.
All the best
