3x-12 is neither quadratic nor an equation.
I don't see an equal sign. Do you see an equal sign.
Quadratic means power of 2 there is only power of one
sorry but 3x-12 doesn't factor to 3*(x-1)*(x-1)
Now I see what you did.
Maybe you mean 3*(x-1)^2
But again there is no equation.
If it were the equation
3*(x-1)^2=0 then the answer would be x=1
for your 3*(x-2)*(x-2)=0 then answer would be x=2 but that doesn't come from 3*(x-1)^2
