the first thing that needs to be done is getting rid of the radical and to do so you need to square both sides of the equation.
(sq rt x-3 + sq rt 2x)^2 = 3^2
then you have
x-3+2x=9
then you add together like terms
3x-3=9
then subtract 3 from both sides of the equation
3x=12
then to solve for x you need to devide both sides of the equation by three and the final answer is
x=4
